#17: Josh in "Zathura: A Space Adventure" (2005)

Updated: Feb 6

If you had your own robot, what would you have it do? Fold your laundry, perhaps? Or maybe do your homework? Or maybe...you'd make the ultimate demand...

...and request a juice box. This is one of the many ridiculous (and hilarious - as demonstrated by my reaction in one my latest TikToks over at @omgoshhutcherson) things that happen Josh's 2005 film Zathura: A Space Adventure.

Alongside some big names you might recognize - Dax Shepard and Kristen Stewart - Baby Josh goes on an epic, and accidental, trip to space. When Josh's character, Walter, and his brother, Danny, find a mysterious board game in the basement...they got more fun than they bargained for. Whatever cards they pull in the space-themed board game come true...and the bickering brothers (and their typical moody teenage sister) are forced to work through the challenges together to find their way home.

The movie has a fun twist (that you may or may not see coming) so I won't spoil that here. Instead, let's talk about Josh's performance in this film.

At this point in the marathon, we've already seen Josh portray a variety of personalities, but many of his characters tend to get a little sassy (even in Miracle Dogs...do you remember when he was like "It's a DAWG" to C.W, the man who was helping him hide the pups?!). This film was no exception and in fact...this is the SASSIEST character I've seen him play yet!

Josh really hams it up though. He delivers all his lines really convincingly...to the point where I found myself disliking the character of Walter. I couldn't believe what a little brat he was and how awful he was to his brother! Of course, this is a movie, so character development swoops in and saves the day...but again...I won't spoil that for ya.

In fact, if you give the "Get me a juice box, biatch!" line a Google, you'll see that it's a fan favorite and it sounds like audiences got a kick out of Josh's performance.

Remember how I said 2005 might be my favorite Josh era? Can you see why now? Josh did five films that year and gave us some classic films - and lines - to talk about two decades later. It's pretty wild to think that Zathura came out 20 years ago, yet folks are still posting about it on social media...or their fan blog, wwww.ohmygoshhutcherson.com. ;)

Zathura marks the end of our journey into Josh's 2005 projects, but not to worry...much more to come!

Peace and Joshperity,

G
