#25: Josh in the Short Film "The Third Rule" (2010)

Do you like Future Man? How about American Pie? If so, the 2010 short film The Third Rule may be up your alley. It stars our Josh, of course, and also Jason Biggs of - you guessed it - American Pie. Similar to those "raunchy" comedies, The Third Rule is more "mature" and is rated as such, so just keep that in mind if you decide to check out this film! The plot description of this film reads, "Two Slackers seek a solution for their financial problems through the help of a Guru" and I'll leave it at that since it does have somewhat of a "twist" ending that I won't spoil for you.

This short film cast Teen Josh as a character I wouldn't have expected him to play at this age - Chuck, the wealthy owner of a fancy car, home, and pool filled with bikini-clad women likely many years his senior. Perhaps that's part of the joke? How did this young guy get the riches and the hot chicks? (While his scenes were a little jarring at first, as this wasn't the role I expected Josh to have, it was also pretty adorable. I found myself chuckling at the champagne glasses on his pool deck considering Josh was far from legal drinking age at this time.) He plays the role well though - a moody, mysteriously successful teen desperate for happiness despite "having it all" on the surface. Josh was absolutely hilarious in this and I couldn't stop laughing over the "moody" faces Chuck was pulling out by the pool as he listened to his visitors describe the guru's teachings.

The short film is only about fifteen minutes, and Josh appears in a couple of scenes (around the 4 and 5 minute marks). If you're looking for a quick, unique, and inexpensive Josh credit to watch - this may be your pick. I was able to pick this up on the official Vimeo for the short film for $3.

Until next time...

Peace and Joshperity,

G
