#3: Josh's First Film Appearance: "American Splendor" (2003)

Updated: Feb 6

Ever wanted to see Josh take on a superhero role? You get your wish in this film...well...kinda.

In his first ever film appearance, one of the first scenes of the HBO hit American Splendor, Josh radiates cuteness while trick-or-treating as Robin. It's a quick scene, but an adorable one, and certainly a special moment for Josh. By appearing in American Splendor, he got his first film credit, and not a bad first gig to land - the film was critically acclaimed and even got a nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay at the 76th Academy Awards.

The film stars Paul Giamatti, who you may know from his expansive filmography. (As a millennial, the project that I tend associate him with is Big Fat Liar with Amanda Bynes and Frankie Muniz). As usual, Paul doesn't disappoint, so while Josh's role in this film is small, it may be worth enjoying the full picture. The movie is really unique - it's a biographical comedy drama film sharing the story of comic book writer Harvey Peaker. It combination of live action, animation, and documentary storytelling kept things interesting. Currently, at the time of writing this, you can watch it on MAX or Hulu.

If you watched American Splendor, let me know what you thought of Josh's first movie scene or the film overall!

Peace and Joshperity,

G
