Here we are with another Josh Hutcherson mystery - what is the story behind Motorcross Kids, and why has it been wiped from the internet?
Well...sort of. After some digging, I was able to find it, and at the time of this writing, there are also a few DVD copies floating around on eBay. It seems to be a "rare" purchase and after watching the film, I'm not any closer to the answer.
To me, Motorcross Kids felt like a cute and pretty innocent film. I didn't notice anything incriminating about it that should cause it to be banished from the web, but there's gotta be more to the story there. Alas, that may remain a mystery, so instead, let's talk about Josh's performance in this movie, which marked his first main role in a film!

Josh stars as TJ, a kiddo with a passion for motorcross who shows immense talent at a young age. When the land he and his friends ride on is threatened by a rival group of riders known as "The Pirates", Josh's character springs into action and challenges the rivals to a race for the land. With TJ's talent, the group thought they had things in the bag until...baby Josh breaks his arm. With their superstar out of commission, the group finds another way to win through Josh's movie co-star...a chimp! The group discovers that their chimp friend Cody has a secret ability to race...so they put him in the ring, much to TJ's initial disapproval. Eventually, TJ warms up to the idea and is a supportive teammate, adding to heartwarming story here...but I kind of wish there was a different ending for baby Josh. I mean...come on...he worked hard to be a young motorcross star and then was replaced by...a chimp? It's a cute gimmick for the film, but I was mad for TJ! JUSTICE FOR TJ! If I could flip the script, I would've had TJ save the day in some way - perhaps he could've coached Cody more than the adults in the film.
Josh's performance in this movie confirms the long-term talent he's always possessed. TJ expresses a range of emotions and qualities in this film - joy, sadness, bravery, jealousy, fear, excitement, passion...and Josh delivers all of these beautifully. He's truly been a natural since day one, and although I'm still unsure why this film isn't easily streamable, I'm glad I got to see it!
Peace and Joshperity,
G
