I hope you still have tissues from that episode of ER Josh was in, because you'll need them for this one as well. Miracle Dogs, Josh's third movie appearance, is a feel-good tale about pups who have special abilities to cure the sick.
Josh plays Charlie, a little boy with a big heart. He's devastated when his parents move them from Denver to Cleveland, but finds a welcome distraction in a dog they rescue while on the road. After taking the animal to the vet, its discovered that she has cancer, and an operation causes her to lose her leg...but not her abilities! Although he was told he wasn't allowed to keep the dog, he names her Annie, after his best friend, and finds a temporary sanctuary for her and her puppies at the hospital. There, the dogs work their magic on the patients, and after the miracles are revealed, we get our happy ending! Baby Josh gets to keep his new best friend and the puppies find their forever homes.

Based on the title and movie cover, I figured this would be super cute and I wasn't wrong. I couldn't help but giggle as a group of puppies ran behind Baby Josh, or when he sneakily brought the pups into hospital rooms so they could lick the faces of the patients in need. I'm also incredibly amused by how he pronounces "W" in this movie...could that be his southern accent coming out?
Now, let's talk performance. We're early into this Josh movie marathon, but this is the first project I've seen him cry in. It's so impressive how believable he was able to make his tears and reactions as such a young actor. My heart was breaking when Charlie tearfully told his mom the truth about his special animal friends and how worried he was. While I was teary in the moment, I think I can forgive Josh. After all, he did what all great actors should do - make us feel something.
If you're a Josh fan, an animal lover, need a feel-good flick, I'd check out Miracle Dogs on YouTube (free if you don't mind the ads!).
Peace and Joshperity,
G
